A 35-year-old man, Innocent Ogbu, was arraigned in Lagos on Tuesday for injuring his co-tenant following an alleged argument that ensued between them over electricity bills. The accused who resides at Mafoluku, Oshodi Area of Lagos was charged with assault before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court. The prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Inoha, told the court that the accused on May 3 kicked his co-tenant, Solomon Durueleke, on his right leg where he had recently had a surgery, causing him a severe injury. According to the prosecutor, the two co-tenants fought following an argument over how they will pay their electricity bills. He said that the offence contravened Section 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty. Chief Magistrate B. O. Osunsanmi granted the accused N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned to Aug. 1 for trial. (NAN)
