Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers yesterday invaded a farm at Mowo Nla at Ikorodu area of Lagos State and abducted a man identified as Tolulope Ogunimo. The kidnappers shot sporadically into the air before whisking Ogunimo away.
The victim was said to be working on his farm when the abductors stormed the farm about 9am. It was learnt that the kidnappers had contacted the family members demanding ransom of N8 million.
The family was said to have begged them to reduce it to a reasonable amount. A family member, who pleaded anonymity, told our correspondent on phone that everyone was praying and hopeful that he would return safely.
“When he was leaving for the farm, he promised to returned early only for his wife to receive a call from someone that they had kidnapped him and then switched off the phone. “Immediately, some other family members and I rushed to the farm and informed the Ijede police area commander who came and combed the farm without a trace of him.
He just bought the land for farming three years ago,” the family member said. When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Dolapo Badmos, said the command was working on his rescue
