Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that security agencies have been mobilised to sanitise the rural communities in the state for greater security of lives and property. The governor said that security agencies have been directed to arrest anyone remotely connected with security breaches in the state, irrespective of his/her political affiliation. Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Arch-Bishop of Niger Delta , Most Rev Ignatius Kattey, the governor said that nobody has the right to take the life of another person. He noted that all prosecutions will be carried out diligently to discourage criminals from perpetrating crime in the state. The governor regretted that some opposition elements have formed the habit of politicising security issues, a situation he said must be discouraged. He regretted the attempts by some politicians to use highly placed connections to stop the prosecution of a suspected criminal who was charged to court for murder. The governor said: “Some persons have politicised security and prosecution of suspects. If someone is suspected to have committed crime, let him face prosecution “.Speaking further, Governor Wike said that his administration will before his first year anniversary flag off the dualization of the Saakpenwa-Bori road and also commence the construction of the State Ecumenical Centre as he pledged during his campaign. In his remarks, Arch-Bishop of Niger Delta Province, Most Rev Ignatius Kattey commended the governor for his developmental strides in the last one year. He said God’s faithfulness has worked for the governor since he assumed office.
