The Enugu State Government, on Monday, said it had constructed and rehabilitated no fewer than 20 road projects, covering 35 kilometres in the past one year. The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Dr Patrick Ikpenwa, made this disclosure in Enugu on Monday while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on government activities in the past one year. Ikpenwa said that the State Government had invested so much in road construction in spite of the economic challenges in the country. The commissioner listed some of the completed urban roads to include, the Holy Ghost Rd, Samuelson Rd, Holy Trinity Rd, Nawfia St., Mbanefo St. in New Haven, Ridgeway Rd, Colliery and Lake Avenue, all in the metropolis. “Government has completed renovation and reconstruction of some public buildings as the deputy governor’s office, protocol unit, Government House’s fuel dump and landscaping. “Government has taken inventory of all projects begging for attention in the state and will tackle them head-on,’’ he said. The commissioner said that no fewer than 24 rural roads were recently advertised for construction or rehabilitation under the government’s rural development programme.
