Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has challenged players and management of Rivers United to work towards winning the nation’s Federation Cup.
The governor spoke during a half time talk to the players on Sunday during the league match between Rivers United and Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt.
He urged the players to win the forthcoming quarter finals match to advance to the semi finals of the Federation Cup , pledging that he would reward them with monetary gifts.
The governor said that should the team win the federation cup, he would surprise them with outstanding rewards.
He said: “I will reward this team every step of the way. If you advance to the semi finals I have a special monetary reward for you. Same if you get to the finals and lift the cup”.
Responding, team manager, Stanley Eguma commended Governor Wike for giving priority attention to Rivers United.
In the Premiership Match , Rivers United defeated Shooting Stars SportsClub by two unreplied goals.
