The Delta State government has embarked on the clearing of blocked drainages in Asaba, the state capital.
The Director General, Special Programme at the Governor’s Office, Chief Frank Omare, who led the clean-up exercise, asked the residents to desist from dumping refuse in drainage.
He said that the exercise was to clear all blocked drainages in Asaba and pave way for free flow of water as Asaba, the Delta State capital is known to be flooded during heavy rainfall.
This ugly development, according to the DG led to the mandate of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to ensure that all illegal structures blocking the waterways and drainages are cleared.
The DG, who moved around the Ibusa road area of Asaba, had to engage more labourers to effectively clear the drainages.
