The Nasarawa State governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has distributed relief materials worth millions of naira and cash donations to 27 communities affected by communal crisis that rendered thousands of people homeless across the state.
Presenting the materials at the Lafia Government House yesterday, Governor Al-Makura also made a cash donation of N1 million each to the affected communities amounting to N27 million.
Items donated include several bags of rice, beans, maize, mattresses, Maggie, soaps and detergents, palm and vegetable oil, beverages, mats, mosquito nets and buckets.
Others were bags of cement, bundles of zinc, ceiling boards, woods and nails, which are to be used to reconstruct damaged houses in the affected areas.
The governor who also released three mobile clinics fully equipped with state of the arts facilities to the affected areas, said government recognises that along with emergency relief, “we must address the health challenges of the victims”.
He said it is in recognition of the challenges faced by the victims that he decided to release the clinics with medical personnels and drugs worth millions of naira to the communities. He said his administration remains committed to assisting those affected by these terrible conflicts.
