As part of its efforts in galvanizing grassroots support via mass enlightenment programmes, a pro- democracy group in Nigeria, the ‘Buhari Solidarity Front Nationwide, last week, held a public awareness forum in Imo State, with a view to sensitizing the people on President Muhammadu Buhari’s fight against bribery and corruption.
Addressing the forum organized by the group led by Chief Jones Dike, the Buhari Solidarity Front Nationwide, urged the people of the 27 local government areas of the state to declare with passion, the war against corruption and indiscipline in emulation of the President’s crusade against the ugly menace.
He called for concerted efforts of civil society groups in the fight against corruption.
Chief Dike, while particularly, commending the interim management committee administration in Mbaitoli local government area under the chairmanship of Barr. Chris Nwabia, said that, given the support of people of the entire South- east region of the country, corruption would be eradicated in the nation’s socio- political and economic spheres.
He said that acts capable of causing disunity and threat to national peace should be eschewed by people of Nigeria.
The pro- Buhari advocacy group’s chairman, urged people of Imo State to put aside the Biafran agitation and associated civil unrest in the overall interest of national unity and stability.
He, however, attributed the economic woes of the country to the inability of past federal administrations to diversify the national economy ahead of the earlier anticipated fall in the oil revenue.
The Buhari Solidarity Front’s boss, absolved the President of claims by traducers that he was not doing enough regarding the abduction of the Chibok girl in the northeast part of the country.
